The last two weeks have been somewhat of a blur, as I am sure they have for you.

On Friday 27th March we held an Instagram Cocktail Party from House of Make (our HQ) as we closed the door on the office for the foreseeable. Those of you that know us know House of Make has been a massive passion project and a happy home for us all and if you have not seen it, there is a video here.

However, WFH would not dull the Make Events spirit. As a team we have had a video conference call at 9.00am and 4.30pm every day. Often just a bit of banter and what we have on for the day. We have also started a tradition of Virtual Cocktail Hour every Friday at 4.30pm. The team’s partners, pets and children are invited too. Big Al is the event planner on that one – God help us!

Our internal communication to the team has been very transparent and open and offered a supportive framework for people to speak openly or privately about how COVID-19 is affecting their mental health.

As a CEO I didn’t want to knee jerk into any big moves until the dust had settled and I wanted to make sure each decision I made was made with absolute clarity. I firmly believe that Make Events and our sub-brands, including HM Events, will weather this storm and it was important to me that the decisions we make in between are for the good of the business.

So, we have furloughed some of the team for this interim, and I thought it was important for you to know your Interim Team at Make Events:

Since 2012 I have had many grand plans for the infrastructure of Make Events. We have also three other brands we have been developing but not properly launched. We don’t know what the future looks like for events, but we do know that we wouldn’t be doing Make Events justice if we don’t do all the things we always wanted to whilst we have time. We might be crazy, but we have always made our own path and we intend to do so now.

So, look out for webinars, social content, new innovative services and ideas and business as usual. We want to continue to live our ethos of creating the ultimate experience for our clients, colleagues and suppliers and intend to look after everyone and keep the wheels turning.
