Vimto is a soft drink that is manufactured in Manchester. The original recipe was invented in 1908 by (John) Noel Nichols. Vimto is currently available in sixty-five countries and the number of countries in which it is on sale is growing.
We were approached to take Vimto back to the 1920’s to celebrate their 110th Anniversary in true Gatsby style. This was the largest event the company had ever held so it needed to be completely on brand and wow everyone in the room, including the founding family.
Manchester Cathedral was the perfect iconic backdrop to showcase this classic North West brand. We worked to create all of the theming, décor, catering, drinks and production.
The menu was inspired by the North West with hearty food made in a refined way, with a Vimto Manchester tart to finish.
We created a 1920’s Vimto cocktail menu to accompany the evening, including a ‘Purple Rain’ drink with Vimto jelly babies and a Vimto slushy machine.
Heritage branding was dotted around the room, such as old adverts, photos and drinks cans which held guests’ place names. Bespoke structures were created for the table centres, which had vintage VIMTO typography and the heritage bottle with a Gatsby hint.
The era came alive through the magic touches that were added to the event, from the art deco furniture and 1920’s style band that played through the drinks reception to the purple lighting that shone across the Cathedral and lit up the intricacies of the venue.
It truly felt like a party Gatsby would be proud to host.
