Sports Tours International are the gold standard provider of trips to mass participation events, they are official partners of the New York Marathon and ASO.

THE CHALLENGE

Sports Tours International approached Make Events to produce their 45th anniversary party and awards. They wanted to celebrate with their colleagues and say Make Events added value through our creativity, logistics and the ability to step back, look in on the brand and show what is so special about what they do.

THE SOLUTION

We wanted the event to truly represent them and get underneath their brand. So, as we were working with a sporting company, the whole evening was inspired by the different stages of a triathlon. You begin at the drink’s reception; the race begins at the gala dinner and then it all ends with a party.

Our Venue Finding team pitched The Point at LCCC to host the event as it can be completely transformed. As delegates arrived at The Point, they were greeted by The Running Bee Choir and a blue carpet in their corporate colours and a projected logo. Living statues accompanied them on their journey to the drinks reception where they found lots of magic touches; bicycle wheel trays, branded drinks flags, company memorabilia and bespokeocktails.

Journalist, Louise Minchin hosted the event. She is a natural presenter, has just released a book, Dare to Tri, on triathlons and had the ability to make the employees she was interviewing feel comfortable throughout the Q&A. Fred Done, Chairman of Sports Tours International, also spoke on the evening.

The stage set for the evening had LED batons throughout, this represented a journey with different destinations along it which lit up to show the stages of the evening. The menu was themed to a triathlon; starter was soup with a diving board dipping bread; the main was beef on a bike and dessert was titled ‘will run for chocolate.’

The Soul Brothers were entertainment for the evening, a band who could cater for a range of ages in the audience. Everyone was given a voucher for a drink from Mo’s Gin Bar and given a bee mascot to acknowledge the latest addition to the company, the Running Bee Foundation.
