The Manchester PA Awards seeks to celebrate support professionals who have exceeded expectations and exemplify hard work, dedication and passion within their roles. Now run independently by the Manchester PA Network alongside event partner Make Events the awards follow in the footsteps of the Manchester PA Network and is run on a not-for-profit basis, with all sponsorship funds contributing to making the awards a night to remember.
Over the last 4 years, Make Events have been involved in the Manchester PA Awards ceremony dedicated to the PA, EA VA and Support professionals that make an invaluable contribution to businesses in and around the Manchester area.
Every year the challenge is the same, to make the event bigger and better than last year and to create an unforgettable night for Manchester’s Support Professionals.
Firstly, we found the perfect venue in the Point at Emirates Old Trafford. It gave us a blank canvas to create something special and flexibility in terms of numbers.
Pre-awards, we managed every aspect from designing the event identity and website to sponsorship packages and judging days.
As a full-service agency, Make Events managed the Manchester PA Awards 2018 from proposal stage right through to full production on the night. This included logistics, theming, entertainment, design and awards content.
As guests arrived at The Point, they were greeted by The Spark Drummers, who are an eye-catching, engaging act. Externally there was large scale projection of the event identity and sponsors logos.
Guests entered the venue through a bespoke gold hexagon themed arch with flowers, bees and the Manchester PA Awards logo all incorporated to create a spectacle before the guests had even got into the venue.
Guests then headed up to the drinks reception where everyone was greeted with a glass of prosecco served on branded hexagonal trays. Here there was also a bespoke bar drop made to match the arch that they had just walked through.
As the doors were opened into the main space, The Greatest Showman theme song was played as full width projection was revealed.
To mirror the Manchester PA awards brand, the room was dressed with gold chairs, navy tablecloths, gold hexagonal table centers with fresh flowers and fairy lights.
When all of the guests were seated, the drummers lead a precession of the shortlisters and walked with them into the room.
To keep the audience engaged we designed a central stage as The Point is a long, thin room and we wanted to make sure everyone could see and be fully immersed in the show. There was also a centralised hexagon where we projected the sponsors logos onto thought the night.
The evenings host was Gethin Jones, known for presenting The Hits Radio Breakfast Show. We knew that he would suit the demographic and he was able to hold the room well.
Make Events decided to split the awards up in between courses to incorporate more entertainment and time for guests to talk and enjoy the night.
In the lobby, there was a GIF swing photobooth where guests got a print out as well as their GIF emailed to them. The backdrop was a bespoke balloon wall that was Make Events branded.
Entertainment included The Halle Orchestra, who played through the starters and The Function Band, who played through mains and performed a headline show after the awards content.
Make Events elevated the event by adding little touches such as ensuring the hexagonal theme ran throughout, linking the on-screen content to the social media content and letting everyone know their table number pre-event to ensure movement was smooth from drinks reception to main room.
The event was a great success. Every year we surpass the previous one in size, design and entertainment. We are sure The 2019 Manchester PA Awards will be no exception.
