Bruntwood is a family-owned property company offering office space, serviced offices, retail space and virtual offices in the north of England and Birmingham in the United Kingdom. They own several high-profile buildings in the Manchester area, as well as in Liverpool, Leeds and Birmingham.

THE CHALLENGE

Bruntwood approached Make Events to support them with their first all-staff communication conference in four years. The objective was to share with the business their purpose, strategy, objectives, future plans and how they want to achieve all of it. The event came on the back of a period of positive change where they had reorganised the structure of the business.

Bruntwood had a connection with Manchester’s Albert Hall and chose this iconic venue as the location for the conference.

THE SOLUTION

First, we implemented a fully branded digital registration and communication portal to allow guests to register and shape the content.

In advance of the day all the delegates were invited to download and event app which contained the joining instructions, agenda, speaker bios and event details.

Working with Bruntwood’s branding agency, we incorporated the conference theme of ‘Thrive’ into the guest experience. On arrival, guests we’re greeted with large freestanding lightboxes and brand ambassadors in branded t shirts and in the main room we installed large format print including two giant banners hanging from the ceiling.

We worked with Bruntwood to develop an engaging agenda, using a mixture of formats, including video, to deliver the key messages to the audience. The main focal point was a large seamless LED wall located in front of the original organ. To maximise the time available, we served snack bags on the guests’ seats on arrival. We used the app to conduct live polls and facilitate the Q&A and we introduced a graffiti wall as a fun and interactive way of leaving conference feedback.

Post conference, the main room was transformed into an informal networking space with a selection of food stalls dotted around the room. Bruntwood brought in performers from Manchester International Festival to entertain the guests.

THE RESULT

The feedback from the employees has been phenomenal and we’re already planning next years conference.
